Born To Run? I’m Running The London Marathon 2014

This post is a little off topic but stick with me!

I’m excited/terrified/nervous to say that on Sunday 13th April 2014 I will be attempting to run the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon.

Being a burger lover I’ve always thought of myself as being more Born To Bun than Born To Run. So this is a new, very last minute challenge for me and I’m going to give it my very best shot. I’ve never run a marathon before, and I was always the one who got a detention for not running after the hockey ball at school. I’m definitely far out of my comfort zone with this!

I’ve decided to run the London Marathon for a great charity called ActionAid. ActionAid fight issues of poverty, hunger, lack of education and women’s rights worldwide. As a food lover living in London I have the luxury of being able to eat what I want when I want. I often moan about being hungry or thirsty, but in reality I have absolutely no understanding of what that actually feels like. Therefore I want to do something for those people suffering this every day.

Anyone reading this I need your help! I’m not sure if associating Springsteen’s music with hours of painful marathon training is the best idea, but if I’m honest it may be the only thing that will get me through. So what are your favourite Springsteen songs to run to, and when in the 26 miles of the actual marathon do you think they’d be the most effective? I’d also really welcome any running playlist/song suggestions from, dare I say it, other bands/artists. As you can see I have exceptional taste in music, but I am also open to other options, anything that will make me feel like I’m running at the speed of light, when I most definitely am not.
I am absolutely shitting myself about this (figuratively and potentially literally – apparently that happens?!) – so any help/advice/support/encouragement you can offer would be brilliant.
I have also set up a Just Giving fundraising page in case anyone is keen to sponsor me and help raise some money for ActionAid. Thank you for your support, it’s massively appreciated!
And thanks for taking the time to visit!
